Cyro von Zuben

Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow cvaleganegrao@som.umaryland.edu

Research

Cyro graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of Campinas, initially focusing on genetic tools for agricultural pest control, using RNA interference in collaborative projects funded by FAPESP and industry partners. He earned a Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology, where his research shifted toward delivery systems, developing a hybrid nanoparticle for breast cancer diagnostics that integrates aptamer technology to target HER-2+ cells. Now, as a postdoctoral researcher at CNPEM with specialized training at the University of Maryland Baltimore, Cyro focuses on nanomedicine to address breast cancer metastasis. His current project involves engineering a nanoparticle for dual roles in early CTC detection and immunotherapy, aiming to activate NK cells and improve outcomes in metastatic breast cancer.
